THREE POSSIBLE ROUTES
The right amount of coverage, considered in person.
You do not need to choose a product before the appointment. Sarah considers your remaining hair, the coverage needed, the way you style it and the care routine that feels realistic.
Toppers & partial pieces
Partial coverage around the parting or crown, selected to integrate with suitable remaining hair. The base, colour and density are chosen around the area that needs support.
Wigs
Full coverage through a ready-made, customised or fully bespoke route. Each option is assessed for fit, hairline, parting, comfort and how soon it is needed.
Mesh integration
A breathable foundation integrated with suitable remaining hair. It is considered only after an in-person assessment of the scalp, hair and maintenance commitment.

Natural is a set of decisions, not a label.
Hairline & parting
Fine lace, mono, silk or scalp-effect construction may be considered according to where the piece needs to look most convincing.
Density
Fullness is calibrated to your face, age, remaining hair and preferred finish—not to the density of a display piece.
Colour
Colour is considered in natural light, including roots, ends and the tonal variation that helps a piece sit believably.
Fit & daily life
The foundation and securing method need to suit your scalp, activity, styling habits and the hours you expect to wear the piece.
CONSTRUCTION & FINISHING
Personalised where it matters.
Ready-made pieces are selected from established makers and personalised at the atelier. A customised piece begins with a suitable base and is re-worked around your hairline, density, colour and preferred finish.
Fully bespoke work allows the foundation, parting, hairline and density to be specified from the beginning. The most complex route is not automatically the best one; Sarah will explain the trade-offs honestly.
Cutting, styling and final adjustment happen with you, so the piece settles around the face you already have.
WHEN HAIR LOSS IS MEDICAL
Cosmetic hair care alongside your medical team.
Before treatment
If timing allows, meeting before significant hair loss may help with colour, texture and style references. It is still possible to begin later.
During change
Comfort, weight, breathability and securing options are considered around a sensitive or changing scalp and your treatment timetable.
Through regrowth
Fit and styling needs may change as your own hair returns. Adjustment and aftercare can be discussed as part of the ongoing relationship.
The atelier does not diagnose or treat hair-loss conditions. Clinical questions should be discussed with your GP, consultant, dermatologist or specialist nurse.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Straight answers before you visit.
Do I need to know what I want before I come?
No. Most people arrive unsure. The consultation is where wigs, toppers, mesh integration and the three product routes can be compared without pressure to decide on the day.
Can you help with a piece I already own?
Often, yes. Adjustment, styling, cleaning guidance, repair or restoration may be possible for pieces made elsewhere. Begin with a short enquiry so Sarah can advise whether it should be seen in person.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. A partner, parent, friend or member of your medical team is welcome.
Will I be photographed?
Only with your consent. You will not be photographed or included in marketing without clear permission.
What does the consultation cost?
A one-hour consultation at the Matlock atelier costs £120. Relevant piece, fitting and aftercare costs are explained before you decide whether to proceed.
